About

ADAPTIVE DEFENSE and Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit (ADSS) came about through the vision of Trevor Baucom. Trevor served with distinction for 13 years in the U.S. Army as a Blackhawk Helicopter pilot. Trevor lost the use of his legs after a serious helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Trevor’s story is like many who encountered adversity and have lived to overcome life challenges and move forward never looking back.

Trevor during his rehabilitation process found the world of competitive shooting sports. Originally Trevor became the first Pro member of Team Smith & Wesson who competed from a wheelchair. After leaving Team Smith & Wesson, Trevor found himself as a member of Team Ruger when he signed with Sturm, Ruger & Company in 2018.

Chris Killoy, Ruger’s President & CEO put it this way . . . “His sheer grit and determination make him the perfect addition to Team Ruger.”

Trevor began competitive shooting in 2011 at the NRA National Action Pistol Championship. Since then, he as accomplished that goal and has competed in NRA’s Bianchi Cup, IDPA matches, SCAS Pistol Tournament Championships and USPSA multi-gun matches to mention a few.

Trevor set out to accomplish a mission to make NRA and IDPA shooting sports more accessible for all disabled shooters and individuals.

The culmination of his efforts brought about ADSS (Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit) who’s first ever event was held at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, NH in 2019. The event was such a success it has been held at Sig Sauer Academy every year since and moving into 2024 this will be the 6th annual event for ADSS.

Trevor and Crew from ADAPTIVE DEFENSE and ADSS hope to see every adaptive individual that wishes to participate at this years event. For more information specifically on the ADSS event please go to https://adaptiveshoot.com
